Maze Runner's premise is unique even if the ultimate conclusion is a tad cliched. Being a trilogy, it doesn't feel dragged on, and although the final installment may have been too much action and not enough exposition compared to the previous movies, it was a neat and tidy conclusion to the series.
Meanwhile, Hunger Games started off with an unoriginal *cough* Battle Royale *cough* setting (to be fair, it's not exactly an original concept unless you live in the GrecoRoman times) turned into a cash-grabbing, plot-hole ridden run-on sentence (not to mention how spinoffs are being heavily considered).
