I will preface this by saying that it was probably the best movie I have seen in the past year.
However I really think that it is between Emma Stone, or Rachel Weisz who should have been nominated for best actress. In my opinion, it was Emma Stone's character who was the protagonist of the story, and she was peak Emma Stone in this movie. putting in probably the performance of her career. Rachel Weisz however, put in a barn burner of a performance as well, really cementing the movie. It wouldn't have been the same without her.
Olivia Colman was also great, but she was just in the background of the real Crux of the movie, which was the rivalry between her two subordinates.
She also was excellent. But I would argue that she certainly was not the lead actress in this movie.
