I just recently watched “The Darjeeling Limited” and really enjoyed it, much to my surprise, considering the ratings of the movie and by all accounts, the movie being one of his weaker movies.
After that, I realized there was a short “Hotel Chevalier” that accompanied the movie. Now, that one I was super impressed with, as it “looked” nothing like a Wes Anderson film, yet still maintained the essence of his films.
While the short was not written directly to go with the movie, the two are inevitably linked. I feel like if you combine the two into one big movie, then, my rating for the film would be a lot higher than just considering “The Darjeeling Limited” alone.
I noticed, however, that a lot of websites keep them separate for Wes Anderson ranking purposes. If you’ve seen both, what approach do you take when evaluating his oeuvre?
