With all the news and excitement about the casting, I just feel that I have to put this out here. As someone who read the books, I feel that there is too much exposition in the set up for the world of Arrakis that just wouldn't do well in making a film exciting. I also do not think a single movie's worth of screentime is enough to fully develop all the characters and plot points even in the first book alone. To me, this is like taking the first Game of Thrones season and cutting it down into 2.5-3 hours. Maybe I'm just being "that guy" in comparing movies to the books, but being that it is the best selling sci-fi novel of all time, I think it should be done justice by not having 75% of the source material cut out to fit into an adequate runtime.
