I'm trying to work on a project regarding tech companies and I came across something I don't fully understand. I was looking through the largest tech purchases of all time and I came across dell buying EMC for $67bn. so i checked dell technology value but Forbes only values it at $57.2B. How does a purchase like this take place, how do you buy a company when the purchase price is larger than your companies value? what am i missing or failing to understand?
