I'm a big fan of the "small character hero badass" type and this movie does not dissapoint. If you are a fan of cyberpunk / mech / post apocalyptic shows then this is for you. And we'll worth the $21 price tag for the IMAX 3D ticket.
Unlike Avatar which focused its cgi budget of bright colors and beautiful scenery Alita focuses on a grungy capitol of humanity working as essentially slaves of a mutual nature with an Elesium style "over city" of what could be called the upper 1%. The lower class is lawless with bounty hunters being the only form of any actual crime enforcement with more cybernetic implants than one could count. But it feels natural in the environment. Very similar to the stacks from Ready Player One.
The cgi was seamless the entire time. Whith only a few over-the-top feats of strength. Which was honestly surprising from a movie based on a Manga.
Alita herself is a semi overpowered type but not so much that she seems invincible and the story progression is flawless which you can expect from James Cameron.
If you are on the fence about seeing this movie. Don't be.. You won't regret it.
