Do you mind opening expansion? I don't especially if it's done by a narrator at the beginning or between big time jumps. It depends on the way it's used rather I like it or not but it's never been a deal breaker for me.
I understand most writers want to do bring it up naturally but sometimes it's hard to naturally bring up all the needed information. And trying to shoe horn it it ends up breaking the disbelief and wasting more time than just having a narrator directly say it would.
The point is opening narration isn't always a bad thing. And you shouldn't always listen to Cinema Sins. God bless :-)
