Rank the Oscar Best Picture winners from 2010-2019

For me, it goes:

10) The King's Speech - Boring and not all that memorable. Good performance from Colin Firth but that's about it.

9) 12 Years a Slave - A bit too pretentious for my tastes.

8) Argo - Very, very, painfully average.

7) Moonlight - Some great moments, but ultimately, I was stone-faced most of the time. I was also a huge fan of La La Land, so this was of course one of those painful moments in Oscar history haha

6) The Artist - I feel a bit of indifference towards this movie. Enjoyed it slightly the first time but I have no desire to watch it ever again.

5) Spotlight - Great performances and some strong writing, but the overall craft felt average.

4) Shape of Water - IMO, Del Toro's best film. Strong in every department and a well-earned win. I preferred Three Billboards, but I don't have many negative things to say about it.

3) Birdman - A complete tour de force, every thing about this movie is fun, haunting, hilarious, depressing, and magical all at once. The craftmanship is out of this world, bringing a fun original story to life in a very accessible way.

2) Green Book - This is probably one of the best average movies of 2018. Nothing particularly spectacular about it that hasn't been done before, but all the stars aligned with a great script, performances, and tight editing that made the pace feel lighthearted and fun, while delivering a hearty message. Very textbook, formulaic and standard, but it did it just right.

1) The Hurt Locker - A very intense thrill ride that managed to beat a pretty big dog in James Cameron's Avatar. Hurt Locker delivers top notch action and small intimate moments that are hard to define due to the complexities of the situations and characters.
