So it seems Rotten Tomatoes has very recently made some changes to its "Want to See" rating right before a film releases. It's interesting in that the changes occurred right before Captain Marvel's release next week. That movie had been garnering a lot of bad press recently, following Brie Larson's comments on a large portion of the Marvel Cinematic (and general movie-going) fanbase.
The rating had dropped to below 30%, right before the "Want to See" rating feature was removed. They claim that they don't want that rating to be confused with the Audience Score that comes along after a film's release.
Personally I don't like it, because it was a great way to see the general audience buzz surrounding a film. I assume they will keep it for films which are a long way from release, since they state that it'll be removed only for films in their pre-release period, but still.
What do you think about this change? And putting a tinfoil hat on for a sec, do you think any other entity was involved in making the change, considering the circumstances?
