1000 years in the future it will probably be common for people to have the surname Ping or DHCP or DNS or BTC because our family's are remembered for their contributions to society.

For example one of the most common surnames right now is Smith... As in Blacksmith.

There is no reason to think this same mentality won't permeate the current zeitgeist.
