In 2017, the Ganges River was given personhood, meaning it had all the rights of a citizen of India. This meant that it could “sue” anybody that was doing something illegal to the river. I believe the Supreme Court of India soon repealed the river’s personhood. My question is, (if the River was still a person in the eyes of the law) could you sue the Ganges River? If so, what could you sue it for? Tidal waves destroying your home? Logistically you probably couldn’t win the case but I want to see someone in court with a cup of water. Thanks!
