What is the reason that horror movies work so much better when the cast doesn't involve an A-rated actor and are usually bunch of actors we don't know much about?

I've noticed that horror movies are so much fun when the cast is completely new. May be it's because, at least initially, we don't know who is going to survive, who's the lead.

Also Horror movie as a genre is about movies that showcases unexpected stories and scenarios. Like when you go see a Action or Drama movie, you pretty much know how it'll lay out but horror movies, at least good ones, hit you up with something unexpected or novel. I guess having fresh actors works very well in that regard.
