To be upfront, I love the MCU. I've wanted to love the DCU, but until Wonder Woman, I've had no reason to. I did enjoy justice league and BVS, but I put them on par of the lower tier marvel films. Not bad, but very forgettable.
I had zero desire to see Auqaman because of how burned I'd been on the DCU. But I heard nothing but praise for it this last holiday season. And with the Shazam hype, I decided to rent it.
I'm so God damned confused about the hype. I really do not get it.
The first hour is nothing but exposition dump. And despite the praise I heard, the cgi is god awful the first half. Why does AQ save the Russian sub? Who the fuck knows. Why does black manta sr. hate AQ? Who the fuck knows. Why does the king of Atlantis need mans help? Who the fuck knows. What is with the awful echo filter for underwater speech? The writting on the boat after the Greece scene? Holy shit could you be more on the noes?
The 2nd half is campy enough to embrace, but the first half was god fucking awful, as it tried to be too serious.
Also, was I the only one confused about the tsunami hitting AQs dad? I though the red head chick was the cause until a random one liner.
Can I just add that moving through water is nothing like moving through space?
