so in the movie people are genetically modified to stop aging at 25. a clock is placed on them that kicks in once they reach 25, if the clock reaches ZERO they die. so time is the currency.
the system is set up to ensure the rich can live forever, and some of the poor are supposed to die to prevent overpopulation.
the problem with this is simple. if they have the technology to modify a human to literally stop aging, than they would definitely have the technology for interstellar space travel as well as advanced Terra forming, as such the possibility of overpopulation wouldn't exist.
with current technology we can send a probe to mars in about 8 months. if they had the technology to alter a humans biology so effectively than we would also have the technology to populate mars and other planets in the Milky way.
so logically speaking everyone would stop aging at 25, and everyone would be immortal. they apparently have the ability to create limitless time on the clocks. they only limit its distribution
