What’s wrong with my knee?? SOS

I am awaiting MRI results but the wait is killing me. Have seen orthopedist and ER doc. Not asking you to diagnose me, just ideas on what it could be. I am 6 days into this injury.

Last Friday 4/12 I was pushed down backwards and fell right on my butt. Person in front of me (huge guy 6’5 240+ pounds) fell onto the side of me and I believe dislocated my right knee cap. Collision to outer side of knee.

I was at a party and quite drunk so it’s all kind of hazy. There was no immediate pain, I pushed my knee cap back in (I think) and limped out. Iced all night. Woke up with an insanely swollen knee and constant pain. Could not bend whatsoever without pin.

Went to ER. No broken bones on X Ray. ER doc did a few bending and twisting things to my leg. Said ACL seemed fine maybe meniscus, gave me an immobilizer and crutches and said go get MRI.

Saw ortho. He immediately started talking about surgery and acl before even doing any tests. Of course me being a 20 y/o F who loves to run and party starts balling. He continues to say don’t worry we’ll get you an MRI. Said try to walk in brace.

Knee is still swollen, not as much as day 1. I can walk around in immobilizer a little bit with no pain (to and from bathroom, around room, etc.) Docs all said lots of fluid in the knee. I can straighten it but not bend more than 50ish degrees without pain. Pain is dull and achey when trying to do so. No more pain at all unless trying to bend it, leg just feels overall sore.

I am in good shape, have lifted and worked out almost all my life. I am a 6ft 20 year old 185 lb Caucasianfemale. I can’t imagine a life not being able to run anymore. I am terrified. I broke my 5th metatarsal in my right foot back in September and I thought that was the worst thing to ever happen to me. I was wrong.

No previous injuries to knee.

Any ideas or similar stories? All are welcome. Thank you.
