Why is celebrating your birthday weird?

Okay after reading through some posts I just have to ask, why is it weird to want to celebrate your birthday in your 20s, 30s, 40s etc. I know some people don't like it and that's fine but why are people who do like celebrating their birthdays painted as narcissists? Personally I like to celebrate my birthday because I see it as an accomplishment. You could have died during the year. You could have been in a car accident, had a heart attack, cracked your skull in the shower, or going down the stairs, you could have had an aneurysm, been diagnosed with terminal cancer, etc. The world is such a dark, shitty place why is it self involved to want one day to focus on being grateful for being alive, and grateful towards the person who gave you life? Humans cannot exist sanely in the constant horrors of our world without having a few moments of light to make things a little better like a birthday, celebrating a promotion, graduations, a wedding, the birth of a child etc. So to end my spiel, can someone provide a valid reason to judge people who do like their birthdays and are just grateful to be alive?
