The movie is centered on the vapidity and mindless consumerism of 80’s finance yuppies. These people make preposterous amounts of money, and their social circles consist entirely of coworkers and potential clients. It’s funny how there are no scenes in the movie of these supposedly high powered businessmen doing anything resembling work, besides having meetings that consist of bragging about business cards and suits.
There are even a few scenes of Patrick in his office, and he seems to spend his time listening to music or staring blankly at the wall. I found it interesting and would love to hear thoughts.
