I watched the first two John Wick films a few years ago and I remember enjoying them well enough. Now that Chapter 3 is being released, I decided to go back and re-watch them. I just finished watching the first and I have to say that I really don’t get it. I enjoyed it just fine, but this series gets so much praise for its action choreography and cinematography. For whatever reason, the action seems to lack any sense of impact for me. I’ve seen the films praised as decade defining action films, but they just seem only “good” and don’t blow me away.
Could someone perhaps add more context? Am I missing something about the choreography? I can appreciate how physical Reeves gets, but the film just doesn’t live up to the hype for me.
