I'm going to be respectful, even though I really don't like Avatar. The problem has always been that once it hit home video, the movie had nothing to offer in terms of plot and character, it was marketed as "3D is this hip and tech savy thing." its 2019 now and who watches anything on 3D TVs anymore?
Someone mentioned Cameron is doing more Avatar to push proper 3D without glasses, which is incredibly expensive and to do it right so that everyone can see it I can't even imagine how difficult that would be to do. That's the problem though, this guy is a hack of a director. Cameron just wants to use movies as a vehicle to push some new special effect, he doesn't have interest in just making a good movie anymore.True Lies was his last good movie, and even then I'm being generous because the Cameron that did Terminator, T2 and Aliens made movies that stand the test of time. Cameron fell apart when he made another overrated movie, Titanic.. Just a tragedy exploitation film with a mastering of practical special effects.
He has no vision for Avatar 2 3 and 4 lol. He's upset that Avatar has left no cultural impact. I understand the MCU isn't perfect, but its consistent throughout and is a cinematic achievement that can't be replicated again. The Lord of the Rings is an achievement and Star Wars is an achievement. What has Avatar done? Its Pocahontas with dated 2009 CG and pushed for a trend that no one gave a shit about after 2012.
