I understand that to a degree it is subjective. If a viewer fails to be convinced e.g. the message is vague/ out of place or the execution is poor, the film would probably be accused of being pretentious. Sometimes it seems to boil down to whether the viewer likes the film as a whole. What are some commonly accepted examples and in what way are they pretentious?
