Where the hell is our "Bone" movie?

Okay, so a couple of years ago, it was announced that Jeff Smith's Bone graphic novels were being adapted into an animated trilogy by Australian animation company Animal Logic, directed by Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda, The Little Prince). After that announcement, however, there has been absolutely zero news about the trilogy's development status. Not a single update, let alone any real news such as casting and all that jazz.

If you're not familiar, the Bone comics are about these little white dwarf creatures who get mixed up in an epic tale of dragons, dreams, locust demons, and a bunch of other weird stuff. The comics were published over the span of 13 years, and, later, were released as 9 graphic novels. If you haven't read them, do yourself a favor and do so as soon as possible. Those books are amazing. Jeff Smith strikes a perfect balance between fun cartoon humor and epic, high-fantasy world building. They're wacky, cool, imaginative, and the ending packs one hell of an emotional punch.

With source material this amazing, it's hard to imagine exactly why the film adaptations are taking this long to see the light of day. It's not like the comics are that hard to adapt; each set of three graphic novels fits a traditional three-act structure surprisingly well. Also, studios have also been clamoring for a Bone movie for decades. Before Animal Logic, Nickelodeon was in talks to make a Bone series (before Jeff Smith shut the whole thing down). Does anyone know what might be causing this massive delay/has anyone heard of any movement on the project?

Boy oh boy, would I love to see this story on the big screen.
