So I haven't fully seen many Godzilla movies and I have seen parts of a few others but when somebody says Godzilla I think about all the shots with people and Godzilla in the same frame where the people run and scream as stuff falls down around them. So going into the new one with more monsters I was super hyped but it seems there is hardly any of that stuff.
SPOILERS
The first fight is in the middle of Antarctica with very few people. The next big one is almost in a populated city and has a few of the shots I'm talking about but then moves to the middle of the ocean. Then the kaijus start destroying a bunch of cities but we just get quick news footage of it. And then the huge final battle is in a basically fully evacuated Boston which if there wasn't a monster there yet then why are all the people evacuating. So there is a huge fight in a completely empty city.
I even scrubbed through the 2014 movie and there are a ton of people running everywhere all the time. The camera is constantly from their perspective and since it's an extras' perspective and not a main character it actually feels like they could die.
Am I just misremembering the other movies or am I just crazy?
