I have an RCA yogi outdoor/attic antenna which I have mounted to the side of my house, about 8 feet from the ground. I JUST learned that it is necessary to ground the antenna in case lightning strikes. I went to Lowe’s and bought an 8 ft copper rod (I’m going to saw in half), a grounding clamp, and 25 feet of 8AWG bare copper wire. My plan is to drive the copper rod into the ground, about 4 ft deep, and run the copper wire from the mast down the wall attached to the ground clamp on the rod in the ground. Nothing more nothing less. Is this all I need to do? Is that enough to ground my antenna in the chance it is struck? Thank you for your knowledge and feedback.
