Are the words film and movie synonymous to you?
In my opinion they are not.
I think a film is always a movie but perhaps not vice versa. That is a film is a movie but not all movies are films.
For example I would posit that Jurassic Park is a film whereas Jurassic World is a movie.
The distinction lies in a certain artistic element that is hard to describe. Je ne sais quoi. The difference between an experience that leaves you merely smiling, and one that leaves you weeping joyfully.
A film is transcendent. A movie is temporal.
My apologies if this meta posting isn't welcome. Please share your opinions. The above is merely my personal take on the colloquial culture.
