Seriously, almost every possible thing about Infinity War was an absolutely terrible sign right from the get-go, such as:
- The film having a main villain whose visual rendering in it is comprised entirely of CGI (remember how this previously turned out with Steppenwolf in Justice League 2017? If not, then you should definitely consider yourself lucky to not have wasted your time with that garbage)
- The film being the third installment of a trilogy (cough, Spider-Man 3, Batman Forever, Superman III, Iron Man 3, cough)
- The overall visual output of the film itself being literally about 95 percent CGI effects...that are also quite the mixed bag as well, looking outright jaw-dropping on Thanos himself (not to mention planet Vormir) but looking downright mediocre in most other places (particularly the alien monster army that Thor and Black Panther fight in Wakanda near the end of the film)
- The film being a superhero one whose main gimmick is being "Darker And Edgier" than most of the others (cough, Spider-Man 3, X-Men 3, Age Of Ultron, Dark Phoenix, Iron Man 3, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Black Panther, the Michael Bay Transformers Saga, Dawn Of Justice, Venom 2018, Joker 2019, Man Of Steel, 300, the Ghost Rider Duology, Dark Knight Rises when compared to Dark Knight proper, Watchmen when compared to the original Watchmen comics, the Blade trilogy apart from Blade II, cough)
- The film being ludicrously overstuffed with characters (despite thankfully only having one really major villain regardless) and only having about 140 minutes to tie all of their in-movie arcs together and keep its central focus on Thanos intact all the while while still feeling incredibly overlong in the process (not to mention that its plot structure technically lacks a first act)
- The film being released only three years after Age Of Ultron (which was released three years after the first Avengers and turned out to be a complete train wreck of a sequel in almost literally every possible way that one could feasibly imagine)
- The entirety of both the film itself and its fanbase basically amounting to a great big comic-book fanservice circle-jerk
- The film being called "Infinity" War when it isn't even as long as Endgame (also sounds like Infinite Warfare and Infinity Ward)
- The film making an incredibly huge deal out of not having a white male lead character for once (cough, Elektra, Halle Berry's Catwoman, Black Panther 2018, Captain Marvel 2019, Supergirl 1984, Wonder Woman 2017, Steel 1997, cough)
- The film seriously expecting you to take its twist ending seriously when it is so obviously going to be retconned
...yet the film still managed to pull off all of these things remarkably passably. I know I'm not the only one shocked by this either
