Or is it just a natural aspect of aging? Im nearing 40, thats a big one and feeling older every day compared to current pop culture, but when I grew up in the early 80s, I didnt just grow up with 80s films, I loved Hollywoods golden age. Even up to the 80s and 90s, I found films often still had heart and warmth and a kind of reaffirmation of common values. I just dont get that sense at all in the now world of films, but to be honest I dont get that sense at all from society. It all seems increasingly to me like some very dark, were all going on a downwards path societally type deal. I even find myself watching 80s COMMERCIALS (yes commercials) on Youtube (theres a ton hah) and feeling a sense of warmth and comfort that I dont get from anything today. I think about this rationally, and I think its one of two things: 1) Society really is on a dark depressing downward trend, or 2) This is a natural part of getting older. Everybody instinctively thinks the past is better as they get older and culture becomes less and less recognizable. So my question is: which do you think it is?
