The credits start at 0:50 and finish at 2:00 in this video. Weird as it may sound, being the product of a TV show, I consider this sequence to be one of the best pieces of cinema the French have ever crafted. If it was possible to rate this on letterboxd as a short movie, I'd probably give it a 9.
It's funny how those things seem to gain more resonance simply by getting older. Rewatching this now, those images feel less like a reality show and more like a long forgotten dream. The exotic locations, atmospheric lighting and low quality recording provide an ethereal quality to the footage. This is truly what a harrowing exile on a deserted island should feel like. The editing is superb, with great transitions and matching to the iconic, beautiful music. I especially love the longing part around the 1:10 mark. And the spinning shot of the forest, near the end, is such a chilling image that you wouldn't expect to find in this type of production.
In many ways this reminds me of the works of Jonas Mekas. The blurring of the lines between reality and fiction, the shooting style, the quick and playful editing. This is life becoming art.
