Just thought about comparing all the Oscar winners from the last decade and comparing them. Decided to look at the four major categories : Best picture, actor, actress, director. Here goes:
Best picture: King's speech, The artist, Argo, 12 years a slave , Birdman , Spotlight, Moonlight , The shape of water , Green book
So, go ahead and pick your winner and then suggest a wild card type entry which you feel would have a shot at beating all these movies.
Best actor: Colin Firth(King's speech) , Jean Dujardin (The artist) , Daniel Day Lewis( Lincoln) , Matthew McConaughey (Dallas buyers club), Eddie Redmayne (Theory of everything) , Leonardo DiCaprio ( The revenant), Casey Affleck (Manchester by the sea) , Gary Oldman (Darkest hour) , Rami Malek ( Bohemian rhapsody) Again pick a winner and a wild card to pit against these winners.
Best actress : Natalie Portman (Black swan), Merryl Streep (The iron lady) , Jennifer Lawrence (Silver linings playbook) , Cate blanchett ( Blue jasmine) , Julian moore ( Still Alice), Brie larson (Room), Emma stone(La la land) , Frances mcdormand (Three billboards) , Olivia Colman (The favourite)
Best director : Tom Hooper ( King's speech) , Michel Hazanavicius (The artist) , Ang Lee (Life of pi) , Alfonso Cuaron ( Gravity) , Alejandro G. lñárritu (Birdman) , Alejandro G. lñárritu ( Revenant) ,Damian Chazelle ( La La land) , Guillermo del Toro( Shape of water) , Alfonso Cuaron ( Roma)
