What were your thoughts on the movie Midsommar?

I just watched this movie on Amazon Prime a couple hours ago, and I'm still not sure what to make of it. I absolutely loved the creepy environment they created with this film, from the haunting psychedelic soundtrack, trippy visuals, and eerie folk drawings and tapestry which gave the whole place a dark and ancient feel. There was a deep sense of "evil" throughout the whole area. Just seeing some of the locations in the village gave me this growing feeling that something is very, very wrong here. I had a subtle yet persistent feeling of mortal fear and dread throughout the film and I didn't feel like anyone could be trusted. Watching scenes in that town felt like being teleported to a literal hell on earth. I also really liked how the movie managed to feel so creepy and unsettling despite being set almost entirely during the day time. Most horror movies rely on night time scenes to increase the spooky aspect, but somehow the brightness in many of the scenes added to the creepiness. My main gripe with this film was that some the the scenes in the last half were drawn out a little too long, to the point where I began to lose interest even when really creepy shit was happening on screen. Also, some of the characters seemed a little too cliched and were too oblivious to all the red flags going off all around them. Overall, I'd give it maybe an 8/10.
