It makes sense Disney is struggling with theme parks bringing in so much revenue each year as well as not being able to release movies in theatres for a period of time.
But also, on a normal year they make so so so much money. Just from theatrical releases alone last year Aladdin, Toy Story 4, Frozen 2, Avengers, Lion King, Star Wars all made a billion to almost 3 billion just for release in theatres not including the billions in merchandising and blu-ray sales.
I know they don't get to keep all of it but the point is they made the most money for any studio in a given year in history by a wide margin. If everyday citizens are told to save part of paychecks for emergencies, (and im not trying to be a dick here Im just curious) why can't Disney put some of that aside. I understand if the parks aren't open all the rest of the year its a major loss but being 1 month into this to let go that many salaries and employees when they can throw together a lesser version of a classic lion king and make 1.7 billion it seems like Disney, more then many places out there, has a strong amount of profits. I dont get the point of the hundreds of billion in profits made 2000-2019 in movies, merchandising, theme parks if they can't hold onto people one month into a Pandemic?
