I was so flippin' excited for feature Mulan this Spring! Its been painful to wait for so long because of the quarantine. Seeing the upcoming adaptation from animation to CGI should be incredible. The previews gave away a lot of information about the movies, hence the [SPOILERS] tag if you don't watch previews:
The invading army has a witch dressed in beautiful flowing forest robes, but her magic is something fantastic! Like in Harry Potter where people can turn into animals this witch has the same power, but unlike in, say, HP1 where McGonnogal changes feom a cat into a human; Disney's Mulan actually shows the transformation process as opposed to focusing on a shadow of the transformation due to budget/technology. The preview for the transformation was stunning. And that's just what got me excited to begin with. When they roll out Mulan in her beattoful red dress the link between film and CGI truly does merge into one perfect world: standing atop a waterfall, overlooking a lush valley below, Mulan harnesses her magic and leaps from the cliff! The CGI works its magic, the redd dress flowing prefectly into the feathers of a phoenix, he face transforming into that of a majestic bird, and all the while a 3D view of the scene takes the viewer into a new world as the screen takes a prespective from behind Mulan as she dives and then flies out of the valley! Honestly the scenery reminded me of Avatar-level world generation. The preview alone was so beautiful, I simply must see this movie!
