The Theory of Everything (2014) almost made me cry

For those who haven't heard of it, this is a film starring Eddie Redmayne as the late great astrophysicist Stephen Hawking and details his educational career as his degenerative disease slowly got worse and impacted his life. A really great film that I highly recommend you all check out sometime.

But what really got to me was a scene near the end of the film where Stephen gives a speech and notices a young lady dropped her pen and did not notice. We then see him imagining himself finding the strength to get out of his wheelchair and kneel down in front of her, pick it up and hand it to her. It then cuts back to him obviously forlorn and realizing it's all just a dream for him.

Idk why, but this made my eyes well up with tears. I'm usually desensitized to stuff like this, but for some reason this got to me. While I like to think he had a happy life, I can't imagine how many times the thought of being able to get up from that chair through his own will and walk just a few feet. I have a family member who has a similar disease to Hawking's, and I imagine he's felt the same way.

Here is the scene for those curious.
