Hello peeps!! Sorry for the long post ahead but please bear with me. I(20F) am really confused by some of the words and actions of my friend's(23F) bf. First of all her bf is almost 7 to 8 years older than her and was her trainer in some hotel management classes. She is supposed to get engaged with this guy during the end of this year.She introduced me to her bf many months ago,I greeted him warmly but he was super awkward and didn't even look directly at me,Im generally a really sociable person and I felt something was maybe off. So recently she is shifting to a new place and I came to stay over the night at her place,she stays alone.Yesterday morning her bf came to help her with packing her stuff and we met again,he didn't even say hi and just stood awkwardly at the doorway,my friend and I both told him to come and sit inside but he kept on standing there awkwardly,sensing the thick atmosphere I started talking to him and he answered me very timidly...and made kind of a weird eye contact..idk how to describe it but it was really weird the way he spoke like a shy little girl and that occasional eye contact,meanwhile my friend spilled some really hot coffee while making it,I rushed to the kitchen to make sure she was okay and he just just stood there with his phone,didn't even ask her if she got hurt.That made me feel uncomfortable,however I shook off my thoughts and as soon I told them bye and was going to step out of her apartment to return back to my place,her bf went and got seated inside,It was as if he was waiting for me to go out so that he could maybe sit or relax inside. So today I went to see her at her new place and asked her about yesterday,she said that her bf is so shy that he won't even sit in the same room with another girl,well that just seems pure bs to me...after a while her bf called her up and cracked a joke? Idk what it really was,saying that "Are you trying to trying to become more like your friend,or is your friend trying to become like you?" now he said this in context to our weights. Im really skinny and my friend is short and kind of chubby,and recently she is trying to lose the extra pounds she got on during this quarantine.She just laughed at this saying that her bf thinks Im quite skinny and that maybe she needs to lose some weight or I should gain some pounds.I didn't laugh a bit because it felt really weird and messed up.Like honestly wtf?? I feel offended but didn't say anything to any of them. My friend seems to be absolutely smitten by him and thinks that he can't say or do anything wrong,but this type of behaviour is really weird.
What should I do? Should I just keep my mouth shut? Why does he behave so awkwardly with me and what's the point of this "joke"? Im honestly baffled by this and would really appreciate any suggestions/advice/explanation in the comments.
