By this, I don't mean that the films should be rated any lower, just that some are much less watchable than before.
For example, I find that this things like "apocalypse now" or "the godfather" hold up extremely well, whereas something like "psycho", or "the wizard of oz" does not.
Once again, not saying psycho is anywhere near a bad film, or even a film that won't be fun enough to watch. But there are much better modern thrillers derived in part from it.
The wizard of oz is also a technical marvel, but I can't say it's that much fun to watch nowadays except for recognising it's important legacy.
