I remember thinking, "A sequel to Psycho made after Hitchcock died? Seriously"? I finally watched it and was enthralled from beginning to end. Director Richard Franklin handled the suspense quite well. and Perkins is fantastic and brings depth and sympathy to Norman Bates. Jerry Goldsmith delivers a haunting score (also amazing to see one master composter follow up another, Bernard Hermann) and Dean Cundey (Halloween, The Thing) provides some great shots. I didn't quite care for a twist in the end but it didn't ruin the movie for me. Overall a worthy sequel. Heard Psycho 3 isn't bad either. Looks like Psycho wasn't just a great movie but a solid series.
