I love films that have something deep to say but get it across without sounding pretentious or like they have a finger stuck up their own asshole. Saw a movie recently based on a scary as fuck book that eliminated all the mystery and horror of the source material and turned it into basically ‘symbolism: the movie’.
I can’t watch movies that put themes and symbolism over plot and character. When the characters start acting in ways to serve the theme/symbolism and not to serve the story I want to kill myself.
What are some artsy fartsy movies that are just way too pretentious?
