I’ve been a devout Christian since 12 when I was introduced to a church as a way to find connections while an immigrant child. At one point I considered seminary and have several friends ordained by the PC USA. I used to listen to FoF regularly as a young adult, read Chuck Swindoll’s books and attend an all denominations multi racial mega church in Chicago.
In recent years I’ve returned back to my immigrant roots focusing in my own family. NPR became my de facto station and not until recently returned to the Christian airwaves when it had me triple check the frequency precisely because of the polite banter I was hearing in it. Surely there are conservative rounds that push for republican agendas but my assumptions that the mainstream Christian community wouldn’t involve themselves in politics or on the very least talk non partisan on the coming elections has eroded significantly.
The themes I read most seemed to be on how sympathetic the republicans are on “Americans” without emphasizing how the scope of that definition has narrowed significantly over the years. This isn’t an identity crisis or a debate in theology. I just need to understand intelligently how deep this rabbit hole goes.
