Just watched “A Quiet Dream” recently, and while I found it to be an unusual yet interesting film, I can’t for the life of me understand the ending. I know the film uses poetic filmography, but I just don’t get why 1) the dad faked his illness 2) (this one is in the middle of the movie) where the female lead’s friends went during the rooftop drinking scene (or why they left) 3) what happened to the female lead after she ran after the motorcycle guy 4) and after that scene, the next scene shows a funeral photo of her and pans over to the friends where it then transitions from black and white to color (obviously symbolizing something), but I’m just not quite sure, and then of course after showing the friends, it pans outside and shows the dad getting up out of his wheelchair and walking away, clearly not ill. I enjoyed the movie, but I would enjoy it more with proper context/explanation. Does anyone have any answers to these questions?
