My wife and I were talking about the best thanksgiving foods. She loves mash potatoes. I said noodles are my favorite. My mother, grandmother and at one point my great grandmother always made the best homemade noodles. I contested her and said how could you not think noodles are the best thanksgiving food. She told me normal families don’t make homemade noodles. Hearing this really confused me. I thought it was a staple food. My family on my mothers side is Italian, but not super Italian. No one has an accent and we’ve lived in southern Indiana since the 50s. The noodles are made the same way as pasta, but is boiled in a chicken broth. My mom always bought boxed pasta. Noodles are only made for special occasions. I myself make pasta all the time and typically freeze it for later use and I make it the same way my mother, grandma, and great grandmother did. Is it normal for families to have homemade noodles for thanksgiving or is this a tradition that I didn’t know was passed down?
