Hi guys. Just note that I'm putting this on an alt account because I'm too afraid of putting it on my main. Also just a warning, this is a long post.
So on Reddit, there have been multiple times on r/iamatotalpieceofshit in posts and in comments of people saying how Islam is the worst religion, A very violent religion, etc..
I really get offended by these comments and posts because not only is there violence in literally every other religion's books, but Islam has quite a lot of peace in it as well.
There is one verse in the Quran that goes:
"لكم دينكم ولي دين" (Translates to "You have you're religion, and I have mine")
This was when the (I forgot the name of the group, We'll just call them the K) K had tried to convince the prophet to do one year of their religion, and they'll do one year of his, and they'll keep going back and forth.
However, the prophet declined politely without getting angry, or any violence being involved.
This is like how you and another person have 2 completely different opinions, but you don't shame them for their opinion and instead politely disagree.
Also, there was this other story about how 3 tired christian travelers came across Medina. I don't remember the story exactly but this is the main gist of it. The 3 travelers were very tired when they arrived, so the prophet had offered them food, shelter, and some supplies. He wasn't even asked for anything, He offered it. He even secluded part of the mosque for the travelers so that they would have a safe place to do their prayers.
There was no segregation in the interactions they had. The prophet just treated them kindly regardless of what their religion was.
Sorry for the long backstories, I just needed you guys to understand my point of view.
So This Post's title states that a man was using an AR to scare his kid into memorizing the Quran. Even though the man's actions were terrible, The book in the video wasn't even the Quran and none of his words mentioned anything about the Quran. And then it sparked many Islamophobic comments. The ones that offended me the most were:
- This One stating that anyone who supports Islam supports the man's actions
- This one stating that Allah will be mad at you if you don't memorize the entire Quran
- And this one stating that our entire religion blows things up for Allah
I will only explain why the last one is so offensive to me. If you wish for me to explain any of the other two please feel free to ask.
The last one is so offensive to me is because the terrorists who blow things up are extremists who take bits of the quran out of context and use it to kill others. And that is only less than 1% of all muslims. So saying that all of us do it really hurt me.
So I want to know how To deal with these types of people? Obviously I can't ignore all of them forever, so how do I deal with situations like these?
