Spoilers for Seven Pounds.
Seven Pounds is a 2008 movie starring Will Smith, and it's only got 26% on rotten tomatoes. A lot of the critics say that it's one of the worst movies ever made, and I don't get that at all. It's definitely not perfect, but I don't think it deserves these reviews.
Here's a short summary if you haven't seen it and don't want to, but I highly recommend you do. Will Smith plays Ben, an IRS guy (or so it seems). He caused the deaths of 7 people (including his wife) in a car crash, so he decides to give up his own life to save the lives of 7 people. The movie is told in a way that you only understand why he's doing what he's doing towards the end. I think it was cool. There's loads of other little twists and mysteries throughout.
It was well made, had good acting, and in my opinion it had a good story that was told in an interesting way. Most of the reviews I've read say that it's grim and takes itself to seriously. It is grim, but why is that bad? There's loads of grim movies, sometimes that's just what people want to watch. And it had a sad story, so I don't know why anyone would want it to not take itself seriously.
I admit that around the middle it dragged a bit and could have been shorter, and the very last scene was a little silly, but it's far from one of the worst movies ever made. If someone has seen it and hated it, I'd appreciate if you could comment why, because I just don't get the hate.
Edit: Obviously I read the reviews, I'm not asking people to read them for me and tell me what they said. What I mean is, why did this movie get bad reviews for being miserable when loads of miserable movies get good reviews. It doesn't seem fair. If you're about to comment "just wead the weviews then, dumbass", please don't.
