When us millennials become old, kids are going to laugh at the stereotype of the old person having tons of useless knick knacks and useless crap on their shelves and walls.

Pop figures, for example. Cool stuff from Etsy on the walls. That limited edition thing that came with that new video game that you were willing to pay extra for for the the special bundle.

Yeah old people are known for knick knacks already, but we love our nostalgia, and it is such a big thing for us to keep things for no other reason than for display.
