Things don't really smell "sweet." Things just smell the way they smell, and if they taste sweet then we associate the particular smell with sweetness.

Just opened an essential oil called "sweet orange," I was like mmm that does smell sweet.

But wait wtf no it doesn't, it smells like orange, sweet is a taste and my nose doesn't smell taste.
