It popped into my head that it’s said that we’re all insignificant specks of dust. If stepping on a butterfly in the past can change the present so wildly as to potentially even ensure that the human race never exists, how important are we compared to the butterfly? If one person disappears, some kind of future for this planet, and maybe even the wider cosmos someday, disappears with them. The influence of one person could stretch so unbelievably far, from now to well into the future, and that’s pretty cool to think about. It’s pretty cool that we’re all here, influencing one another, and even if nobody remembers that we existed 300 years from now, the positive influence that we have on others now is probably still going to be in effect then, accumulating more and more things as it goes, like a snowball rolling down a hill. We can change an awful lot of things from here on out just by doing something as simple as living our lives and interacting with others.
For specks of dust, we’re all really important.
