Just walked out of a movie during the previews because someone asked us to move from “their” seats, only to find out that our seats would be on the front left row. Is this becoming normal? Assigned seating in a general admission movie? This is a terrible idea. I can understand it for special movies like dine-ins, akin to reserving at table at a restaurant, but it does not fit for a general admission movie.
If this is the way theaters are going, you can say goodbye to spontaneous trips to the movie (unless you want a crick in your neck), you can say goodbye to seeing movies with more than 2 or 3 friends (unless you all buy tickets at the same time to ensure you get seats together). How is this good for business? Now I’m more inclined to stay home if I see that the only tickets left are front few rows.
Assigned seats weren’t even enforced, so that’s bound to cause a headache for many people who don’t realize seats are assigned, and then what? Are you going to attempt to rearrange half the theater during the previews? This is bound to leave droves of people in disappointment. In my opinion, this is a terrible direction for theaters to take. What are your thoughts on it? Has anyone else experienced this?
EDIT: Well, I hoped to have back and forth discussions about the way it used to be, the way it is now, and how it might be better, but people just want to call me an idiot or asshole for having a certain opinion, even though I back it up with logic, and any comment I write gets downvoted even if what I say makes sense, just because they don’t agree with my original post. It really sucks that people can’t talk over their opinions without belittling others, getting offended, and using the downvote button as a “disagree” button. But that’s the way it works I guess. Goodnight all, you don’t want to have an actual discussion anyway.
