they went with this non-linearity of time shit and imo they bit off more than they could chew. we dont understand time, but we are going to say it can be viewed like from some higher whatever, dimension or vantage point as a non-moving non-linear thing, whatever that means, as if thats supposed to make any sense? mumbo fucking jumbo. whatever the fuck. yet these aliens move through time just like anything else we have ever encountered in this world that is made of matter. its a stupid concoction, the entire premise. its nonsensical. and they tried to tie it to emotions and time passing and whatever. it doesnt work... too much of a jumbled mess. and it just sucks beyond that. jeremy renner is a lamo, amy adams is stupid lame in it, not doing her usual bubbly self here for which she became famous. her playing a serious scientist was retarded to watch, and jeremy who looks like a prisoner white trash criminal is also miscast as a leading theoretical physicist. the slow pace of the movie that denis always uses for his movies doesnt work here, there is no underlying tension. there is no dark mystery. its about a freaking communication problem and about saving the world or some such bullshit, like cooperation or some such political shit. its so boring. it looks bad too imo. it looks foggy and colorless, morose basically. sterile, lifeless. i hate this fucking movie, man. i really do.
ive seen it three times to make sure i wasnt missing the genius of it or whatnot, cause its directed by this denis guy who i hold in high esteem --sicario, prisoners, blade runner 2049 - imo some of the best movies of the 21st century; it got nominated for best picture, best cinematography, best director... but i just fucking hate this piece of shit feel good but sad movie..i mean supposed to be sad.. i didnt feel jack shit, only disgust at how silly and bad it is. fuck it up the ass. thats not what sci fi is to me. thats some lame shit that needs to end up in the toilet to be flushed.
this movie is an endless pile of manure. the chinese, the tv screens...the freaking octopus aliens -- thats not an alien, thats an octopus. jesus.fucking.christ.
