For me. Shutter Island. I was so hyped up. Originally slated to be released on October 2, 2009 and I had just been getting into Martin Scorsese. Then suddenly it was delayed until February 19, 2010! I couldn't wait any longer so I read the book, which to be honest I'm a very slow reader but I finished it in a few weeks. The book blew my mind, but by the time I got to see it in theaters the reveal just wasn't the same. The note that fad to be decrypted was different and overly simplified. I did enjoy it more on subsequent viewings.
I ask for non mega franchise because I'm personally tired of hearing JL and TLJ disappointment.
