I’m not accusing Giacchino of plagiarism, it’s different enough... but there’s a little, soft piano riff of single notes played in sequence. They just so happen to be (almost?) the same notes, and played with (almost?) the same intonation as “Penelope’s Theme” written by Nathan Johnson for “The Brothers Bloom” (Dir. Rian Johnson).
It was weird watching War because every time I heard that piano, my mind left the serious drama movie and drifted off into a whimsical romance... It was distracting to say the least. It’s funny how the mind works.
