I think James Franco did a good enough job but he seemed a bit young for the role. Tommy Wiseau was 48 years old when he made The Room and he looked like it really. And even with the makeup, Franco was still too good looking for the role. Much of Wiseau's weirdness comes directly from how his face looks.
