What are some of the most controversial movies ever made? The controversy can obviously come from the film itself, but it can also come from behind-the-scenes drama or the overall reaction to the film. Or even all three.
Just one example of a controversial movie is The Shining directed by Stanley Kubrick. Stephen King, whose novel Kubrick's movie was based on, was very against the adaption. As far as behind-the-scenes drama, it is reported that Kubrick was horrible to the leading actress Shelley Duvall. I don't think The Shining is the most controversial movie ever, but it is a good example nonetheless. It's nice to see it get a better reputation over the years.
